1950s Private Oasis

Our home is in between Downtown Baton Rouge and LSU's Campus. Often described as a "Hidden Oasis" this house is often a shocking find for people visiting for the first time. Nicholson Manor was built in 1948, and to the best of our knowledge, the pool was built at the same time. The pool is a throwback to a different time. It's 20 yards long and holds roughly 65,000 gallons of water. It's 3.5 feet deep on the shallow end. 9 feet deep at its deepest. It was designed as a lap pool, and its deepest point is about 3/4 of the way down the pool as the bottom slopes back up We have opted to keep the oak trees around and over the pool, while it's no the smartest financial move, it does have a unique feel that we just aren't willing to mess with. The backyard is large and completely fenced in by an 8-foot-tall brick fence. There is plenty of green space off the shallow end of the pool. There is a brick pad to setup whatever version of outdoor cooking you may want to do. Off of that is plenty of grass that is well-shaded for a good part of the day to set up tables and chairs...for anyone looking to use the space to host something a bit larger.
